Web Steering Group - Website Responsibilities

UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

WEB STEERING GROUP

The purpose of the Hunter Library Web Steering Group is to steer the overall organization, presence, and presentation of the Hunter Library website. The group will provide a fast and flexible process for adding content to the web and will make decisions on principles and themes for the site, rather than focus on the specific content of each web page. The group will encourage growth and change for the website.

What we do:

  • Apply information architecture best practices to the Hunter Library website.
  • Set project priorities for Webmaster.
  • Serve as sounding board for Webmaster.
  • Manage communication between Webmaster and the rest of the Library Faculty and Staff.
  • Focus on the look and feel of the website, ensuring that the website has a consistent voice throughout and that the website is as user-friendly as possible.
  • Identify gaps and needs for the website. Recruit appropriate people to provide updates to content, according to priorities.
  • Address changing information needs by encouraging new content development and new content authors from within Hunter Library.
  • Gather information, evaluate, decide, communicate, and implement.
  • Include others.
  • Request input from appropriate parties and involve them in decision making.
  • Coordinate training .
  • Request collaboration and assistance from other groups as needed.
  • Create avenues for feedback and communication about ways to better accommodate and inform our users.
  • Address changing information needs by encouraging new content development and new content authors from within Hunter Library.

What we don’t do:
