Web Steering Group - Website Design and Layout Policies

Goal: Organization of site is as intuitive as possible

Goal: Each page should be able to stand alone

Goal: Writing should be concise and clear
Policy: All pages must be cleared by a member of the editorial committee

Goal: Pages load quickly in consideration of users with dial-up internet access

Goal: Site is accessible according to W3C priority one guidelines
Policy: All images have “Alt” tags

Goal: Site has consistent look and feel
Policy: Pages must be in RedDot (EXCEPT Insider Pages or approved digital projects)

Goal: Site is viewable in different browsers

Goal: Site is able to be analyzed for traffic statistics

Goal: Site must be current, up-to-date, fresh
Policy: All pages must be reviewed for content and receive a new revision date at least once per year. Exception- Research Guides are to be reviewed every 6 months.
