PAGES
Complete all fields in the template you choose.
IMAGES
Remember that some users are accessing the site using a dial-up connection. Images take time to load. Keep them few and small.
Make sure all images have alt tags.
Graphics should have a resolution of at least 72 ppi. Higher resolutions mean larger image file sizes and slower downloads. Lower resolutions mean unclear images.
TEXT
Have all text cleared by a member of the editorial committee.
Use table cells or stylesheets to indent text. Don't use lots of spaces.
Don't bother to left justify text - the default is to left justify it. By adding the tags, you add download time to the page.
Don't style text directly (make it bold, italic, change sizes) if you can use the stylesheet to style it. If the style you want is not there, get it added.
Don't use “Click Here”. Links stand out most on a page; make the words meaningful.
LINKS
Use relative links within the Library Website (../images/top.gif NOT http://library.wcu.edu/images/top.gif).
Call Numbers have a similar format to Subject - http://wncln.wncln.org/search/c?SEARCH=ml3520
All databases should
be linked through our proxy server - so they can be used off-campus.
the easiest way to do this is to copy the URL from the A-Z database page.

Use %, not exact pixel size. Then your cells will scale, no matter what browser setting.
