Web Services - Homepage Images

Purpose:
The purpose of the homepage images is to highlight collections that are unique to Hunter Library and therefore to WCU.

Procedures:
Image ideas should be discussed with the Web Services Assistant. Pictures traditionally have come from Special Collections and have a historical bent.

Corresponding annotations should be short. They must be edited by a member of the Editorial Group.

Goal: Replace the images every quarter (starting 8/24/04).

Other:
The homepage is set to accommodate six (and ONLY six) rotating images in a fixed size and location. To be effective, images must

• be high quality in order to display clearly on standard monitors,
• have a vertical rather than horizontal orientation,
• be adaptable to monochrome, i.e., black & white or sepia. (It is OK to submit color images. Graphics programs such as Photoshop or Fireworks will convert color images to black & white.)

The Web Services Assistant will format the images (crop, size, etc.) and will upload the images and annotations once they have been approved.
