Pottery Traditions:
Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts, Waynesville

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Museum of North Carolina Handicrafts was founded by agricultural extension agent Mary Cornwell who directed the Village of Yesteryear, an annual craft exhibit at the North Carolina State Fair. Located in the historic Shelton House, the museum displays pottery and other traditional crafts. On the way up Balsam Mountain, Mud Dabbers Pottery & Crafts is located on the Great Smoky Mountain Expressway.
