Valuation of Cherokee Improvements.- We understand, that the Secretary
of War has appointed Maj. E. W. Du Val, Superintendent of Indian Affairs for
the Cherokee Indians; Rev. Alfred Finney, late of Dwight Mission in the Cherokee
Nation; and Rudford Ellis, Esq. of Conway County, to be Appraisers for
the purpose of viewing and appraising the improvements owned by the Cherokee
Indians in the country which that Nation ceded to the United States, by the
late Treaty. The Appraisers, we understand will immediately proceed to
execute the trust reposed in them.
