The following resolution, offered yesterday by Mr. OWEN, was taken up
and agreed to:
Resolved, That the Secretary of War be directed to lay before this House
the report of the Board of Engineers, on the subject of making a Canal between
the Hiwasse and Connasauga Rivers, and for the purpose of connecting the waters
of the same: and that he, be also directed to communicate to this House
the report of Major Armstrong upon the same subject, under the authority lately
given him to open a negotiation with the Cherokee Nation of Indians.
