Experience:
Dr. Denise Wilfong received her PhD from the University of Tennessee in 2009. She
is a 1994 graduate of the EMC Program. She joined the faculty of Western Carolina
University part time in 1999 and full time in 2001 and currently serves as Associate
Professor and Academic Coordinator of the Residential EMC Program. Prior to this appointment
she worked as a paramedic at Spartanburg Emergency Medical Services, in Spartanburg,
South Carolina. Dr. Wilfong has worked toward improving EMS education at the national
level, having served on the Board of Directors for the National Association of EMS
Educators (NAEMSE). In addition, she taught the Level 1 National Instructor Course
and was the Coordinator for the Level 2 National Instructor Course for NAEMSE. She
currently serves as a Site Visit Team Captain for the Committee on Accreditation of
Educational Programs for the EMS Professions.
