Compass Program

The Compass program is designed to provide additional guidance and support for first generation, low income, or independent students. All first generation, low income, or independent students are eligible to apply, and are accepted in to the program based on need as determined by the MAPS professional staff. In addition to access to all services provided by MAPS, students accepted to Compass are matched with an Academic Advisor from the MAPS office who serves as an Advisor, coach, mentor, and guide throughout their academic journey at WCU. Students meet with their Advisor bi-monthly for individualized consultations whereas topics could be academic, social, personal, or career in nature depending on the individual needs of the student.

How to Apply

Students admitted to WCU can apply by obtaining a copy of the Compass application from our office in 205 Killian Annex or by clicking below to download the application. All applicants who meet eligibility requirements will be considered for admission to Compass. However, our program only admits a limited number of students each semester.

Students are encouraged to apply as soon as they receive their acceptance to WCU. Upon application review, the student will be notified of acceptance into the program.
