Resources for Faculty and Staff

Faculty Associates for Campus Engagement (FACE) Consultants are available to peers to collaboratively discuss specific topics or projects related to a range of areas of expertise during the semester. The Provost Fellow for Academic Community Engagement is also available for help on topics related to engagement. Consultants serve as one-on-one mentors to colleagues for a given area of expertise, including engagement. There is also a FACE group for incorporating service learning into classes. Community service leave is also available for SPA and EPA employees. WCU also maintains a list of community partners that are interested in working with us. Faculty and staff working on engagement-related projects should be aware of important guiding principles of effective campus-community partnerships.

Engagement Funding

Funding is available to support engagement-related activities through our Intentional Learning Plan associated grants and in some cases through professional development grants.

Engagement Awards

Significant engagement achievements are recognized through a number of awards including the Innovative Scholarship Award, the O. Max Gardner Award, Service Learning Awards, and awards available through the NC Campus compact.

Course-Related Resources

Find resources related to the WCU Service Learning Course Designation, using the WCU Center for Service Learning van, engagement-related course syllabi through the Campus Compact, and also find other Campus Compact resources for faculty and staff.

Faculty planning to have their scholarship of engagement peer reviewed may be interested in evaluation criteria developed by the Clearinghouse and National Review Board for the Scholarship of Engagement.
