| The Division of Information Technology and Office of Public
Relations are making Web publishing programs available to faculty, staff and
students. Western has recently purchased a number of licenses for Macromedia
Contribute 3, a program that offers point-and-click simplicity, and Macromedia
Dreamweaver MX 2004, the industry standard for Web publishing professionals;
and Fireworks, a Macromedia Web graphics software program.
A request for software access may be made on the form below. Once the request is
approved, notification will be sent to the user. Then, IT Services will either
send a representative to install the software or it may be installed remotely.
Either way, a shortcut to the software will be created on the user’s desktop.
Software access for student users will be available on all Hunter Lab computer
stations.
IT’s Department of Educational Technologies will be offering regular Contribute
training sessions to faculty and staff throughout the spring 2005 semester. A
series of progressive Dreamweaver workshops (1. intro; 2. beginners; 3. basic;
4. functional; and 5. advanced) also will be offered throughout the spring
semester.
All training will take place in Belk 406 and is open to faculty first, staff
second; any remaining seats will go to students. The workshops will be taught
by a faculty teaching fellow.
For the workshop schedule, check the ITS Workshops Web site (http://www.wcu.edu/it/workshops.html)
beginning the last week of classes this fall semester and/or the beginning of
spring semester.
