NCREN Director to Speak at Western

UPDATE: View Killebrew's presentation on Grid Computing and Networking (PowerPoint)
Added 01/14/2005

The Division of Information Technology is pleased to sponsor two presentations by John Killebrew, director of The North Carolina Research and Education Network (NCREN), from MCNC Grid Computing and Networking Services. NCREN is the organization that provides network access to the entire UNC System.

The first presentation on Tuesday, November 23, 9-10 a.m., will be directed to technical audiences and will provide an overview of the current status of NCREN but will also focus on the underlying technologies that are being used and planned to support the current and future service offerings. It also will include NCREN's best informed view about the technologies that are expected to be incorporated in the next three years.

The second presentation on Nov. 23, 12-1 p.m., will be a brown bag lunch directed to general audiences and will provide a broad view of the current status of NCREN, service offerings, members, and future plans (including next generation networking).

Mr. Killebrew will invite participants to make suggestions for new items that NCREN might be able to add to the existing suite of services.
