As Western Carolina University continues its implementation
of Banner, the university’s new business system, the
Finance Office is the latest administrative area to “go
live.” On Monday, July 3, Finance completed the transition
from the former system to the new Banner system.
Banner will allow the office to process financial information
in a quicker, more reliable manner by integrating multiple
old systems into one new unified system. In addition, Banner
will also allow greater integration across all university
and state functions.
In preparation for Banner go live, finance staff members
participated in a year-long training process. The training
provided an opportunity to analyze current job processes and
the capabilities of the software to build job processes to
fit the needs of the university. Training for end users began
in June and will continue throughout the next several months.
Including Finance, all areas but one have made the transition
to Banner. Human Resources will be the last functional area
to make the transition. It is scheduled to go live in January
2007.

Banner website for more information.
