Fall 2004
This year the Delta Zeta Chapter held its annual Brown Bag Speaker Series on the third Wednesday of every month. Some of the topics this year were: “The Last Samurai,” by Masafumi Takeda, Instructor in the Modern Foreign Language Department; “A Literary Tour of Madrid from the Perspective of Azorin,” by Dr. Nancy Norris, WCU Modern Foreign Language Department; and “Living and Working in Latin America: A Variety of Cultures and Languages,” by Professor Joanne O'Conner, WCU Modern Foreign Language Department.
The Delta Zeta Chapter once again participated in the WCU annual International Education Week in November by setting up a Phi Beta Delta information table and assisted the office of International Programs and Services in arranging for international students to speak to various campus classes throughout the week.
This semester, the officers worked at designing a Delta Zeta brochure to recruit new members. This brochure will be used by the Membership Chair and officers in the spring, 2005, to solicit eligible student, staff and faculty members.
Plans are underway to initiate a weekly International Social every Monday afternoon in the Student Union. International coffee, tea and cookies will be served in an informal venue to elicit dialogue with international students, study abroad students, faculty and staff.
