Correspondence includes letters from George Washington Whitman to "Dear Sister," March 12, 1862; Thomas Jefferson Whitman to Hannah, May 15, 1864; Walt Whitman to his niece, Jessie, April 21, 1883; W. Irving Landell to Robert Lincoln, Secretary of War, regarding George Whitman, April 21, 1883; Walt Whitman to Jessie, December 19, 1890; as well as cards from Walt to Jessie. Photographs include pictures of Walt Whitman inscribed to "Jessie Whitman," and pictures of Walter Whitman and Louisa Van Velsor (Walt's father and mother).
