What Is Online Learning

Online learning is a form of e-learning.  It involves the use of computers, computer software, instructional media, electronic mail, and internet or intranet technologies to facilitate teaching and learning.

Why Learn Online?

1
You can learn any time of the day or night you choose to learn.
2
You can learn anywhere (work, home, library, hotel) you choose to learn.
3
You save money in tuition, gas, and baby-sitting costs.
4
You save precious time  traveling to and from  class and the library.
5
You save the frustration  that comes from being stuck in traffic for hours.
6
You can study online with classmates via WebCT Chat.
7
It is fun.
8
Most importantly, it works.  Anything you you can learn onsite, you can learn online.

How Online Learning Works

HR courses may be accessed by logging onto WebCat. If you are enrolled in a class, you will see it listed in myWebCT. Click on the class title and you will have access to all of the course materials. Access to WebCT courses is usually granted one week prior to the scheduled start-up date for the class.

Typical online instructional activities (i.e., lectures, group discussions, reading assignments, class projects, presentations, turning in assignments, exchange of e-mails, taking of tests, accessing grades) take place on-line inside the WebCT electronic learning environment. Our New Student Orientation includes training on the use WebCT software.

All online students must have at least a Pentium III computer with multimedia capabilities and a fast internet connection (DSL or Cable). They should also be able to perform common computer functions (e.g., browse the web, zip and unzip files) and use Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
