Certified Online Instructor Course

Description: The Certified Online Instructor course is designed for faculty to become proficient in cutting-edge technologies and to enable the development of innovative online courses which appeal to multiple learning styles.

In this course, you will become familiar with pedagogical and technical aspects related to using WebCat, Western Carolina University's learning management system, as well as a host of other online venues where teaching and learning can take place. This course is self-paced and includes activities designed to provide orientation and practice with using WebCat tools. Whether you plan to teach totally online, or simply want to use Western's various systems to supplement your traditional course, the Certified Online Training program will expose you to the most up-to-date options available.

Wimba-Workshop

Description: Wimba is the online teaching and collaboration tool that is replacing Elluminate. Wimba provides an intuitive mechanism for instructors to lecture to and interact with learners from around the globe. Wimba has flexible communication options that give users the ability to use voice over the internet, standard telephone voice connection, text messages, and graphical symbols. In addition to simple PowerPoint presentations, Wimba has the ability to display internet resources and share applications, all with optional real time webcam video. This workshop will give instructors the skills they need to exploit the powerful learning tools Wimba has to offer.
