Diversity Dialogue: Conversations on Color

In February 2017, in honor of Black History Month, WCU set out to explore one unique collection of student perspectives – those of students of color.

A Conversation About Color

To kick off the month and start the dialogue, WCU's Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Programs recorded this on-camera conversation featuring 2016-17 Student Body President Baron Crawford, graduate student Brittany Cotton and alumnus Brandon Robinson, who has served on WCU's Alumni Board and chairs its Board of Visitors.

In a conversation moderated by WCU Chief Diversity Officer Ricardo Nazario-Colon, Baron, Brittany and Brandon discuss their experiences as African American students from diverse backgrounds coming to a open, inclusive but also predominantly white public university. They discuss barriers and opportunities, expectations and unexpected realities.

We invite you to watch the video and to join the conversation by submitting your own story here.
