The
Department's mission is to offer undergraduate and graduate students
a quality education in the areas of Marketing and Business Administration
and Law. This is accomplished through synergistic teaching, research
and service. Faculty development in these areas is strongly encouraged.
The Department supports the roles and missions of the College
of Business and Western Carolina University. Thus, a Community
of Scholarship is encouraged at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels, wherein a forum for examining the principles, needs and
issues relative to the business world is provided. The Department
provides an educational experience which meets or exceeds AACSB
standards.
Computer applications, internationalization of the curriculum,
and ethical business standards are encouraged. Further, theory
is blended with practical experience through a variety of innovative
teaching techniques to ensure that students are exposed to material
that is on the'cutting edge' of the business world. Students are
encouraged (and supported) to engage in professionally related
clubs/associations, cooperative education and internship programs,
as well as research with faculty. Also, a dedicated faculty assists
students individually and collectively through strong advisement
and placement efforts. These combined endeavors help develop analytical
thinking and effective communication among students.
