M.B.A. Degree with Certificates
Recently, additional programs have been approved that link the MBA
degree with certificates in four areas: Entrepreneurship, Health Care
Administration, Human Resources, and Project Management. Each of these
programs, consisting of 48 semester hours of course work beyond the
foundation courses, will help you prepare for managerial opportunities
in one of the three areas. Details of the program include the twenty
four hours of MBA core, six hours of MBA electives, and eighteen hours
in any one of the three disciplines as follows:
MBA Core (24 Hours):
- ACCT 651 Managerial Accounting
- CIS 651 Information Systems for Competitive Advantage
- ECON 607 Managerial Economics
- FIN 601 Financial Management
- MGT 605 Organizational Behavior and Analysis
- MGT 606 Quantitative Analysis for Business
- MGT 607 Strategic Management
- MKT 601 Marketing Management
MBA Electives (6 Hours):
Six semester hours of coursework offered by the College of Business
selected in consultation with the MBA program director.
Select one of the following options:
Entrepreneurship (15 hours):
Fifteen hours of graduate entrepreneurship courses elected in
consultation with the entrepreneurship advisor.
Health Care Administration Certificate (18 hours):
- MHS 510 Systems and Policy in Health Care
- MHS 564 Cost Containment and Productivity Management in Health Care Organizations
- MHS 664 The Legal Environment of Health Care
- MHS 665 Quality Improvement in Delivery of Patient Services
- MHS 696 Trends and Issues Seminar in Health Sciences
MHS Electives:
Three semester hours of MHS courses selected in consultation with the
MBA and MHS advisers.
Human Resources Certificate (18 hours):

- HR 645 Consultation in Human Resources
HR Electives:
Three semester hours of HR courses selected in consultation with the
MBA and HR advisers.
Project Management certificate* (18 hours):
- PM 650 Project Management Systems
- PM 652 Project Plan Development
- PM 654 Project Plan Analysis and Approval
*Currently, the project management coursework is offered only in a
Web-based online environment.
