Summer
Pay for Nine-Month Faculty Members
Salary payments made by the University to nine-month faculty members
for services during the Summer are negotiated amounts.
Such payments
made from University funds, excluding grants and contracts received
for externally sponsored activities, may not
exceed two-ninths of the 9-month contract salary for the academic
year immediately preceding the Summer of employment. This
maximum compensation is for a full-time appointment for 60 days.
Summer salary
payments from grants and contracts may not exceed. three-ninths of
the 9-month contract salary. This maximum
compensation is for a full-time appointment for 90 days.
Rates of pay for
Summer employment for periods of shorter duration or less than full-time
effort likewise are negotiated.
However, the maximum for such appointments will be a daily rate based
on the 9-month salary divided by 195 (39 weeks x 5 days
per week) and adjusted for the per cent of full-time effort. Compensable
time and effort may not exceed five days per week and
100% effort.
Faculty members
whose Summer salaries are paid from a National Science Foundation
grant are subject to an NSF regulation
which limits Summer pay to a maximum of two-ninths of the 9-month
salary.
