I. Administrative Items

   The minutes from the previous meeting were approved.

 

II. Coaches’ Teaching Load

   -Chuck Wooten discussed options for increasing revenue.

-He informed the committee that there was a 10-year plan to move away from the current situation of coaches teaching.

-He noted that WCU was not the only public school in the UNC system that had coaches teaching.

-The committee passed an amended statement for submission to the chancellor (see attached).

III. New Business

   -Sue Swanger gave an update on the current appeals processes.

-Gibbs Knotts provided an update of Southern Conference issues. He discussed the role of other University Athletics Committees in the conference. These committees address a range of issues including scheduling, budgeting, academic progress rates, gender equity, and minority equity.

-The committee agreed on three meetings next semester. February (Budgeting), March (Scheduling), April (Academic Enhancement Program Review). The AEP review will be conducted by Chris Cooper, Justin Menickelli, and Candace Boan

    

IV. Meeting adjourned at 1:00pm. Next meeting scheduled for February 2007, location and time TBD.
