Chancellor's Update – August 25, 2004
PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH YOUR COLLEAGUES WHO DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO EMAIL
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the start of the semester go so smoothly. I especially want to thank:
All volunteers who worked over the weekend to move students into the residence halls. Your efforts really show the family spirit of Western
- The staff in residential living, not just for their usual good work in running a smooth move-in, but for all of the extra efforts it took to get two new residence halls up and operational.
- All of the faculty and staff who took part in registration and late orientation. Despite the time constraints, our students and their parents were very pleased with their experiences.
- Campus police for managing the heavy traffic flow and for their continuing efforts to work with the families of students to make their first college experience a good one.
- And especially to facilities management staff who worked so hard to make the campus look beautiful despite the construction, and for the care they show in managing the logistics of this weekend.
Deborah and I spent a great deal of time walking the campus and talking with students and their families. Based on their feedback, this was the best start we have ever had to the new year.
Again, thank you for all your extra efforts—they really paid off!
John
