As WCU's 125th Anniversary Celebration came to a close, this event featured the Pride of the Mountains Band, marching from the Alumni Tower to Ramsey Regional Activity Center, playing music from their appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade just a few days before. The celebration featured a fashion show to showcase 125th anniversary apparel now available in the Catamount Clothing and Gifts store, as well as attire from 13 decades of WCU history. Attendees enjoyed games, giveaways, prizes, music from the WCU Cathouse Band, performances by cheerleaders and the dance team, and refreshments - including a birthday cake featuring the 125th anniversary logo. This event featured a picnic on the lawn, old-fashioned games, music, dance and fun for everyone. Attendees enjoyed a variety of old-fashioned games and photo opportunities with props representative of 125 years of WCU history. Musical entertainment was provided by the Dirty Guv’nahs, and some party-goers won a variety of door prizes. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community attended. Runners were coated in color as they passed through color stations during the Fun Run 5K on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Western Carolina University. The event was part of activities associated with WCU’s 125th anniversary and the university’s annual Love Your Body Week. The race began at 9:00 a.m. near the Alumni Tower at the center of campus and was open to runners age 10 and older. To see photos from the event, see this Facebook gallery.
