Book Rental Information
TO: All Faculty
FROM: Pam DeGraffenreid
RE: Rental Textbook Requirements
This letter is to request textbook information. As many of you know,
textbook costs are an ongoing issue with the UNC Board of Governors and
have generated interest in on-time adoptions rates within the system.
On-time adoptions are important for bookstores to access the used book
market and thus lower textbook costs. Please let us know if there
is anything that we can do to help assist you in your effort to obtain
textbook requests by the due date.
As in the past, a computer form containing a summary of all
courses taught in your department, including the course number, author,
textbook title, adoption dates, etc. (this information is not available
on our web-site) will be sent to the department head.
Please review this information with faculty members in your
department. In the column headed “Estimated Enrollment”, please
enter the number of textbooks which you determine are needed for the
upcoming semester.
Please be reminded of the revised policy that allows a new textbook to
be adopted before the two-year adoption period expires only if certain
criteria are met. The criterion is outlined in the revised Book
Rental adoption policy. Please refer to the textbook policies and
procedures for more information on the policy. The Book Rental policies,
procedures, and forms are available on our web site at http://books.wcu.edu/
If a new textbook is to be adopted, please submit a new adoption form
or an exception to the two-year adoption rule form, either on-line or by
submitting a hard copy from our web site.
The computer course summary, new adoptions and exceptions to
the two-year adoption rule requests need to be received by the permanent
due date found on the faculty links page (when the permanent due dates
fall on a holiday or weekend, requests will be due the next business
day).
NOTE: Remember only new adoptions and exceptions to the two-year
adoption rule can be processed on-line. All previous adoption
information must be entered on the computer course summary.
