Mark Holliday was the WCU representative of a National Science Foundation grant, arranged for undergraduate Phillip Rash to receive a summer research internship at the Department of Computer Science of Duke University from May through July. Phillip worked on a project analyzing TCP/IP protocol performance on a high-speed interconnect.

John Slater was awarded a $350 grant from the C-SPAN cable network for the purchase of C-SPAN videotapes for instructional use.
