Elizabeth Heffelfinger
Dr. Elizabeth Heffelfinger develops and coordinates the Motion
Picture Studies program in the English department, and serves
on the Motion Picture Studies Steering Committee, which promotes
the study of motion pictures across the University. She teaches
film and media history, culture, and theory; her specialty is
documentary and non-fiction films and their role in American’s
adjustment to peacetime after World War II. Please
make an appointment with her if you are interested in a major
or minor in Motion Picture Studies.
Terry Curtis Fox
Terry Curtis Fox is a professional Hollywood screenwriter and
producer whose film and television credits include Hill Street
Blues, JAG, The Hunger and Stargate SG-1. Terry Curtis Fox teaches
a series of screenwriting courses that culminate, in the Junior
or Senior year, in a completed, production-ready script. He also
teaches film studies courses that focus on important directors,
and serves on the Motion Picture Studies Steering Committee, which
organizes the development of Motion Picture Studies across the
University
Terry Nienhuis
In addition to his life as a teacher of English, Dr. Nienhuis
is also a film and stage actor who has appeared in 15 film roles
and over 40 stage roles. Dr. Nienhuis has taught the introductory
film course, ENGL 278, and courses that focus on a specific genre
or historical period.
Many English faculty share their passion for film, and expertise
in film genres and film history, in select courses. Watch for
these future course offerings:
- Dr. Mary Adams will teach a Film Noir film class (ENGL 268)
in Summer 2006.
- Dr. Brian Gastle will teach his very popular Science Fiction
film class (ENGL 268) in Fall 2006.
