The University enrollment
has grown rapidly in the last several years. Classes are offered
both at the main campus in Cullowhee and at the UNC Graduate Center
located on the UNCA campus in Asheville.
Since our graduate program
is not large, students are usually in small classes. In fact, the
student-faculty ratio is about one graduate faculty member for
every six students. As a result, our faculty know their students
as well as their subjects. They spend time with students outside
of class, meeting for informal study groups, organizing trips, and
advising thesis projects and research. Graduate students are considered
junior colleagues of the faculty.
WCU possesses excellent resources
and library facilities which support a highly qualified faculty
and strong graduate programs.
The university's ten residence
halls are an important part of campus life, offering a variety of
experiences that can contribute to intellectual, personal, and social
development. Residence halls are open to all students, undergraduate
and graduate, to the extent available. Rooms are equipped to accommodate
one or two students. Each room is furnished with computer data ports,
single beds, study desks, chairs, dressers, and closets.
