The Organization of Creative Writing hatched from the mind of Tony
Christopher, Grand Exalted Poobah, and Tim Blekicki, Vice President,
who conspired with Faculty Advisor Brian Railsback in October of
2000 to bring the monster to life. Once every week or so,
the organization confers for readings of individual creative writing
endeavors and constructive workshops thereof. Reading selections
from favorite published writers is also encouraged. The primary
purpose of the club is to provide an encouraging and constructive
environment for creative writers to share their work.
Aside from co-hosting the Poetry Slams, the organization participates
in the Undergraduate Research Expo. They also take off-campus trips
to read poetry in various scenic places. Whether they’re on a raft
floating down a river, or on the side of Whiteside Mountain, the
group takes time out to read favorite selections of poetry.
