Whether you are an aspiring poet, storyteller, or you're writing the
great American novel, Western Carolina University is a university where
you can express yourself in the form of creative writing.
Western Carolina University offeres several courses in creative writing
that are all taught by the top English professors in our area. According
to the WCU Catalog, courses such as English 191-Freshman Seminar In Creative
Writing, allow students to explore, practice, and discuss their creative
writing, with emphasis on one or more of the following: poetry, fiction,
creative non-fiction, and screenwriting. Believe it or not, that's
just an introductory course.
WCU also offers courses such as English 306 (Nonfiction Writing), English
308 (Fiction Writing), English 309 (Poetry Writing), and English 310 (Screenwriting).
Who wants to spend all their time in a classroom? There are several
different ways to get involved with creative writing at WCU without taking
a class. You could submit your writings to the Nomad, which is a
collection of writing and art samples from WCU students. The Inkblot
is an online collection of student writings that deal with everything from
life in Cullowhee to poetry slams.
There is also the creative writing club here at WCU. It's a great
way to meet other people who share the same interests as you do.
You may think that you're the only person who is into creative writing,
but as you can tell, WCU is home to many different outlets for you, the
creative writer. |
