![]() Faculty Position in Science Education
Western Carolina University (www.wcu.edu) invites applications for a tenure-track position in secondary science education. The successful candidate will serve as coordinator of the secondary science education program and, with the science education advisory committee, take the lead in improving and growing our program. The new faculty member will be appointed to a science department, and will collaborate with other science programs and the College of Education and Allied Professions to serve the science education program. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing leadership and coordination for the secondary science education program, and supervising secondary education field experiences. Applicants must have 1) an earned doctorate degree in a natural science (Biology, Geoscience, Chemistry, or Physics) or Science Education by the date of appointment that includes a graduate degree or equivalent coursework in a science content area (all degrees must be from an accredited institution), 2) a current license or eligibility for licensure to teach science at the secondary level in North Carolina, 3) experience working with secondary schools, including at least 3 years teaching experience, and 4) a strong commitment to public education. University-level work experience in science education is preferred. The rank of appointment of the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience at the assistant or associate level; salary is competitive.
