artist statement - Andy Cline
I am a painter working in fluctuating styles and forms that are
both synthetic and painterly/organic. I want to reflect by-
products of the technological world while keeping rooted to
biology, nature and the physical . Concerned with talking about
the generative and the destructive in society and in the
individual, painting becomes a microcosm with destructive and
constructive forces working against/ with each other. Loud
color, stark contrast, large scale, narrative landscape and
abstraction characterize the current work.
