English Majors:
What Can They Do?

The professors in the English Department are proud of its recent graduates, whose accomplishments include:

  • Four Spring 1999 graduates attend prestigious graduate schools in creative writing, technical writing, literary study, and library science
  • One graduate attends law school at Wake Forest
  • Graduates obtained jobs in fields of professional writing, particularly related to web page design and computer technology
  • English alumni work as legislators, attorneys, help-desk assistants, photojournalists, reporters, and novelists
  • One graduate attends Microsoft College in Palo Alto
  • Many graduates teach in high schools of the Western North Carolina Region

This year's graduates, with the help of new computer instruction, portfolios, and internships, are more marketable than ever before. They point to hands-on projects, including this web page, as evidence of their versatility.
