Chemistry and Physics Majors:
The Job Outlook

Graduate school is the most common pursuit for physics majors. Approximately thirty percent of WCU chemistry graduates go to graduate school.

  • Students go to engineering and research programs at schools including NC State, UNC, and others.

  • They have gone to such schools as NC State, University of North Carolina, Florida State, and the University of Illinois. These students have entered programs in pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, and chemistry.

  • Many WCU chemistry students opt to enter the work force immediately after graduating. WCU chemistry majors have found jobs at Baxter Labs in Marion, NC, Morton Chemical, Glaxo Wellcome, and Lab Corp.
