The department consists of three main programs: Geography,
Geology
and Natural Resource Conservation
Management (NRM). These fields overlap substantially,
encouraging cooperation among the programs and offering a
diversity of subjects virtually unparalleled at Western.
The unique environment of Western North Carolina offers many
opportunities for students to carry out local field studies
in urban, rural or physical/environmental areas. Students
also are encouraged to seek experience and continued study
in other parts of the state, country and world.
