Emergency Medical Care

Application

Students wishing to apply to the Emergency Medical Care program must first be accepted as students of the university.

Prospective students should write:

Admissions Office
H.F. Robinson Administration Building
Cullowhee, NC 28723

or call (828) 227-7398 to request admissions information and an application.

To be eligible for admission into the EMC major and the professional course sequence, students must have completed sixty semester hours, including all general education and pre-professional course requirements, with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (C average). Admission is competitive. Applicants must currently hold or be eligible for North Carolina EMT certification. Courses necessary to achieve certification are offered each semester on campus. Students holding out of state EMT certification may apply for reciprocity by contacting the North Carolina Office of EMS at (919) 733-2285.

The deadline for receipt of all application material for early admission of traditional students is February 15th. In order to be considered complete, the application form and all supporting documentation must be received by the EMC program director by 5p.m. on February 15th. The admissions committee will not review any applications for early admission received after the February 15th deadline. Occasionally, space may be available for additional students after offers for early admissions have been made. If so, additional applications may be reviewed for late admissions. The deadline for application materials for late admissions is May 1st.

Transfer students holding a current NC EMT-P or National Registry certification, may apply during any semester through, Mike Hubble, the Program Director.
