Past Chancellor Myron L. Coulter first
offered the Bird Alumni House for Alumni Association use. Alumni of
Western Carolina University carry with them the sense of belonging
they found as students in Cullowhee. The Alumni House amplifies that
feeling, offering a center of hospitality to alumni when they return
to campus for meetings and social events. It's a way of saying that
alumni are important to Western. It's a way of letting alumni say,
