Shortly after you submit your application, you will receive acknowledgement that the Office of Admission has received your application. Your acknowledgement letter will provide you with your personal identification number (often referred to as your 9-2 number—the 9-2 portion of the number has been designated by UNC General Administration as attributing an applicant or student to Western Carolina University) that helps protect your information and helps us ensure that we are communicating with you. Be sure to keep your 9-2 number secure and handy. You will need it to conduct business at WCU and for accessing Catamount Gateway.

Catamount Gateway becomes your source of information regarding your application for admission. Once you have made application and received your 9-2 number, you can go to gateway.wcu.edu to verify the accuracy of your information, check the status of records (“requirement met” means that the specified documentation has been received as opposed to meaning that the information meets admission criteria), track the date that your information was received by the Office of Admission, monitor your application decision status and view financial aid information.

Admitted students can access and follow the online path through the enrollment process, submit deposits (tuition and housing) to reserve a space in the entering class, and submit orientation fees once registration for orientation is open.
