Who Am I?
As a child I lived all over the Southeast. However, I can claim legitimately to be
a native of western North Carolina because I was born in Asheville. I graduated from
Gardner-Webb University in 1999 with a BA in Communication Studies and from Western
Carolina University in 2010 with a MA Ed. in Higher Education Administration. I have
worn several few professional hats before finding my true calling in higher education.
I have worked in the university setting for many years and have been at Western for
over six years. My Western roots are deep since my dad is an alumnus. I live in Sylva
with my husband, Jason, our two girls, Annie and Olivia and our cat Whiskers. Our
family spends a lot of time on the campus, drawn by the many events held at WCU.
Why Western?
Once you see Western’s campus for yourself, you’ll never have to ask this question
again. It is, by far, one of the most beautiful campuses I have ever seen! In addition
to its appealing mountain atmosphere, we are home to award-winning faculty members
and an unsurpassed transfer-admission program. Western is deeply committed to staying
on top of the latest and greatest technology and “keeping up with the times,” so to
speak. The programs Western offers are among the best in the country. Anyone would
be proud to call themselves a Catamount (including you!).
