The Program for the Study of Developed Shorelines is equipped to do balloon and kite aerial photography using techniques perfected by grassrootsmapping.org. PSDS worked with grassrootsmapping.org, GonzoEarth, and the Louisiana Bucket Brigade on imagery associated with the BP oil spill in the spring and summer of 2010. Click here to see images from those missions.
The improvements of our aerial photography over Google Earth imagery are dramatic and in April 2012, GoogleEarth and Google Maps (satellite view) started using our student made map as the top layer.
Adam Griffith of PSDS is leading students on the current effort to map the entire WCU campus. An overview is below. Click here for complete details in an expanded Excel spreadsheet.
Check out WCU senior Brad Proctor's quick stitch of campus. Check back for more images as we get better at stitching them together.
