Katie McDowell Peek is a native of western North Carolina and earned a BS in Geology from WCU in 2007. In 2009, she completed her MS in Coastal Geology from East Carolina University and studied the geologic development of the Cape Hatteras region of NC. Katie is the lead scientist on the Storm Surge Database and the NPS Coastal Vulnerability and Adaptation study.
