Western Carolina University

The Faculty Research and Creative Activities Award provides awards up to $5,000 each for support of research and creative activities (May be used for activities that contribute to a current research agenda or for seed money for proposals seeking external funding). 
 
Requirements

• The recipient(s) must spend the money during the upcoming fiscal year (7/1/2013-6/30/2014).
• The fund must be used in accordance with University policies (http://www.wcu.edu/25193.asp).
• The application materials are to be submitted as an electronic document to rstiles@email.wcu.edu. Hard copy documents will not be accepted.

Eligibility

• All tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply, regardless of discipline, methodology, or area of scholarship.
• The applicant cannot have received the award in the past 3 years.

Application

• Application Due Date: Monday, January 21, 2013
• Application Process requires:
  
  1. Faculty Research and Creative Activities Application Form (Word)
  2. A current CV
  3. Project Narrative (maximum of 2 pages, single spaced, minimum10 pt. font)
     
     • Briefly describe your proposed project in the following order:
       
       • Purpose
       • Significance
       • Plan of activities
       • Expected outcomes
       • Potential external funding agencies
       • Duties of Graduate Assistant if applicable
  4. Other Support
     
     • List all sources of research support and funding currently available to you, including University sources.  List the name of the sponsor or source, dates of project, amount of funding available, and specify any overlap of activity with this proposed project.

Evaluation

• The Awards Sub-Committee of the Faculty Scholarship Advisory Committee will review the applications and transmit recommendations to the Dean of Graduate School and Research.
