Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning 2013
The Coulter Faculty Commons is pleased to host our 26th annual Summer Institute for
Teaching and Learning, May 21-23, 2013. This year’s theme is “Teaching Across Divides.”
Teaching and learning are about making connections – with our students, colleagues,
content, pedagogy, experiences, community, research, technology, and the like. While
we sometimes struggle to connect in our own teaching and learning journeys, diverse
perspectives from peers and colleagues may provide insights to help us succeed in
making connections and crossing divides.
Throughout this year’s Summer Institute, we will explore both those notions; those
that divide us in our teaching endeavors and those that help us lead our students
to make connections and synthesize their learning experiences. During this three-day
retreat, we will critically evaluate practices that help us make connections and cross
divides in our teaching. Aside from informing practice, the Summer Institute provides
participants with the opportunity to rejuvenate and rediscover your love for what
you do. We look forward to seeing you at this annual celebration of teaching and learning.
To register for this year's Summer Institute, please peruse the Focus Team descriptions, as each team explores teaching across divides from a different angle. Decide upon which three you would most like to participate. After you have made your decisions, please click HERE to register.
