Graduate Doctoral Degree

Educational Leadership - Doctor of Education (EdD): Fact Sheet | Program Website
The doctoral program in educational leadership currently is being revised for senior-level educational leaders with experience in facilitating improvement and solving complex problems in an environment of accountability.  For further details, call 828-227-7310.

Graduate Master’s Degrees

College Student Personnel  (MEd): Fact Sheet | Program Website
The Master of Education program in college student personnel prepares graduates for careers in student affairs professions to promote the intellectual, social, emotional and personal development of college students. 

School Counseling (MAEd): Fact Sheet | Program Website
The Master of Arts in Education program in school counseling prepares graduates for careers as counselors in elementary, middle/junior high and secondary/high schools.  Successful completion of this degree leads to recommendation for licensure in K-12 school counseling. 

Elementary Education (MAEd): Fact Sheet | Program Website
The Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in elementary education helps licensed educators update their knowledge and skills with the most current theories and research on teaching and learning.

  • Master of Arts (MA) offers three specific concentrations:  literature, professional writing, and rhetoric and composition.
  • Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) is designed for  licensed, in-service teachers to earned advanced degrees.
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is designed for those with no teaching experience who desire licensure.

  • Master of Science (MS) degree in applied math is designed to be completed in two years.  It provides a strong foundation for work in industry or transition to a doctoral program.
  • Master of Arts in Education (MAEd) is designed for in-service educators to prepare for teaching in secondary schools or in two-year colleges.
  • Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) is designed for those with no teaching experience who desire licensure.

The Professional Core courses for the MAEd (12 hours) degree programs and MAT (18 hours) degree programs can be taken at Biltmore Park or online.

The Middle Grades Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Program in Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, or Science provides an opportunity to pursue initial licensure in North Carolina while completing the professional education sequence.
