Engineering Technology General Information
1. Applicants for the BS ET degree must have a two year college degree, preferably in a technical discipline.
2. All students must have access to a modern computer. Assignments may include accessing Internet resources, the WCU Library, and the home page of the instructor. Email and FAX may also be modes of communication.
3. WCU offers the BS ET using a combination of live instruction supplemented by online instruction, as appropriate, at Isothermal CC and Catawba Valley Community CC. Classes are scheduled for Thursday evenings.
4. New enrollment is in fall terms only. Exceptions may be approved by the Program Coordinator.
5. The BS ET degree program is typically completed in 3 1/2 to 4 years of part-time study beyond the two year degree.

Online resources for the distance learner may be accessed at http://edoutreach.wcu.edu/. Information at this site includes how to access library resources and student information such as transcripts, textbooks, certain academic regulations, etc. As with students who are campus-based, students at a distance are also expected to be knowledgeable about WCU academic regulations and policies.
7. Individuals interested in pursuing the BS ET using the distance learning program are encouraged to contact the Program Coordinator prior to enrollment to ensure they understand the structure and nature of the program and whether the program is suitable to their particular situation.
