Moya O'Neal, an experienced stained glass artist, excellent teacher and enjoys teaching
adults, will once again be teaching a 6-week course in the Tiffany method of creating
stained glass.
The Tiffany method involves wrapping pieces of glass is wrapped in copper foil and
then soldering it. The class will cover safety, proper cutting techniques, foiling
techniques and simple metal framing as well as types of glass, solders, and copper
foils.
Each student will complete an individualized project in colored glass by the end of
the course. More advanced students will be able to work on their own projects at will.
Students will be expected to purchase their solder, foil and glass. All other tools
will be provided. (Some products may be purchased in class.)
Classes will meet in the south lobby of the Cordelia Camp Building on Western’s campus
from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $85.00. To register call 828-227-7397 or visit http://learn.wcu.edu and click on conferences and community classes.
Students will need to bring safety glasses, pen, pencil and felt tipped pen, paper for notes, a box to carry your glass and tools (about 12 X 12), cotton garden gloves (glass is sharp and molten solder is very hot), band-aids and an open mind. The cost is $ 85.00. Call 828-227-7397 if you have questions.
