WCU Scholarships
The Honors College began a tradition in 1997, its first year, when Dean Brian Railsback rode his bike from Reynolds Hall to Mount Mitchell to raise funds through pledges
for scholarships. The dean has pedaled to the top of Richland Balsam (the highest
point on the Blue Ridge Parkway), Mitchell (the highest mountain east of the Mississippi),
and as far as Raleigh. Over $40,000 has been raised through the rides to support Honors
students already enrolled at WCU.
The Honors College Board of Directors manages the program, awarding tuition scholarships of $1,000 in the spring for students to use the following fall. For more information, contact the dean or contact Bonnie Beam at the Honors College Office.
