Personal Statement:
I made the right career choice when I decided to become a Spanish teacher. While I truly enjoy teaching Spanish, I also find teaching Hispanic culture and literature to be very rewarding. As a scholar, I have published articles on Jorge Luis Borges, José Lezama Lima, and songwriter Agustín Lara. Currently, I am working on a book-length project on Mexican popular culture in which I will discuss music, film, comic books, and other popular media. For five years I chaired the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and currently I am happy to have returned to full-time teaching.
