Practical experience under faculty supervision for prospective teachers as teaching aides and as tutors.
Students will have experience with helping an at-risk student through a mathematics course by meeting regularly scheduled one-on-one tutoring appointments. By keeping a journal, the practicum student will observe and document the learning styles and behavior of the tutoring student. Practicum students are expected to experiment with different teaching strategies to arrive at a successful teaching approach for the tutoring student.
Grading procedures and factors influencing course grade are left to the discretion of individual instructors, subject to general university policy.
