Dr. Ferguson received his M.A. from Western Carolina University and his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  His teaching and research interests include modern U.S., North Carolina, the American West, popular culture, and the African American experience.  He is currently revising his dissertation, "Race and the Remaking of the Rural South: Delta Cooperative Farm and Providence Farm in Jim Crow-Era Mississippi," for publication.  His research has been funded by the Center for the Study of the American South.
